Uzbekistan sends humanitarian aid to flood-hit Afghanistan
More than 169 tons of food were delivered to Afghanistan from Uzbekistan through the Ayritom border checkpoint, as reported by the Surkhandarya regional administration.

The humanitarian aid shipment was ceremoniously transferred at the Astras company's facility in the city of Hairatan. Dignitaries present included Ulugbek Kasimov, the Surkhandarya regional governor; Erkin Khamroyev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan; Muhammad Yusuf Vafo, the Balkh province governor; and other official representatives from both nations.
As a reminder, Afghanistan experienced significant flooding on May 10 due to intense seasonal rains across five districts of Baghlan province.
The disaster resulted in at least 60 fatalities and over 100 injuries, with numerous individuals still reported missing.
