Flood risk alert issued for eight regions in Uzbekistan
Flood warnings have been issued in the mountainous and foothill areas of Uzbekistan, according to the Center of Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet).

The alert is due to expected rainfall from May 23 to 27, which may lead to flash floods in the following areas:
- Kashkadarya region: Yakkabog, Dehqonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, and Guzor districts
- Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Kumkurgon, and Muzrabot districts
- Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Qoshrabot, Kattaqorgon, Payaryk, Jomboy, and Ishtikhon districts
- Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiobod districts
- Tashkent region: Ohangaron, Bustonlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk
- Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqorgon districts
- Fergana region: Sokh, Shahimardon, Fergana, and Besharyk districts
- Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qoroantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaobod, and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad
Authorities are urging residents of mountainous and foothill areas, vacationers, and drivers traveling through these regions to take precautionary measures.
In some parts of the country, rainwater accumulation is expected, which could lead to flooding in low-lying areas.
