Tashkent airport opens terminal to visitors after major renovation
The first phase of the arrival hall reconstruction at Tashkent International Airport has been completed. The hall has been expanded, and a new waiting area with 120 seats has been created for those meeting arriving passengers. An additional baggage carousel has been installed. A special access lane has been constructed leading to the area, along with a new parking lot. The second phase of the reconstruction is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

According to a statement by Uzbekistan Airports JSC, the initial stage of the reconstruction of the arrival hall at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport is now finished.
It is noted that in this first phase, only the right section of the hall was renovated. The overall area has been expanded, and new lanes for both vehicles and buses, a 120-space parking lot, and a green zone have been developed.
“The expansion of the building’s facade has increased the arrival hall’s area by 2,100 square meters. As a result, the customs area has been enlarged, an additional baggage carousel has been installed, and for the first time inside the terminal, a dedicated area with 120 seats has been arranged for those receiving passengers,” the statement said.
In addition, a short-term parking lane has been opened adjacent to the hall for convenient drop-offs and pickups. According to airport officials, taxis, private vehicles, and buses can now access this area directly. The permitted stopping time in this lane is 10 minutes, the same as the departure hall’s drop-off zone.
The second phase of the reconstruction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. This phase will include the installation of an additional baggage conveyor belt and the expansion of the arrivals area to include cafés, shops, and other passenger services.
The final phase of the project involves unifying the arrival and departure halls into a single terminal complex. Upon completion, the terminal's total area is expected to exceed 10,000 square meters, with a capacity to handle up to 2,400 passengers per hour.
It is worth noting that in autumn of last year, Javlonbek Umarkhojaev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports, announced that 40 billion UZS had been allocated for the modernization of the departure hall at Tashkent International Airport. He also mentioned that a loan would be secured for the final stage of the project.
He added that the total cost of the reconstruction would be announced once the technical and economic feasibility studies were completed. However, this figure has not yet been disclosed.
