Uzbekistan and Pakistan discuss new defense industry projects

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev met with Pakistan’s Minister for Defense Production, Hayat Harraj, in Islamabad to discuss new avenues of bilateral cooperation in the defense industry.

During the meeting, the two sides addressed key issues on the bilateral agenda related to defense and defense production, exploring concrete areas for collaboration.

At the start of the talks, both parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamic growth of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan across multiple sectors — including the defense industry — and highlighted the special attention paid by both heads of state to strengthening bilateral relations.

The importance of deepening political, trade-economic, scientific-technical, and especially defense cooperation was emphasized, building on the countries' shared historical and cultural ties and taking into account current global and regional developments.

Minister Harraj praised the progress made in recent years in military-technical cooperation and noted that significant steps are being taken to institutionalize the bilateral dialogue. An effective platform has been established to develop practical solutions and implement joint projects in the defense sector.

In light of the evolving nature of modern military and political processes, the two sides discussed proposals for joint projects aimed at developing advanced technological solutions and making effective use of both countries’ science and technology parks.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize reciprocal visits by delegations at various levels for in-depth discussions on areas of cooperation.
