On July 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report on the effectiveness of reforms, the progress of regional initiatives, and the implementation of projects in the Namangan region, according to the presidential press service.

Based on the president’s decree dated December 2, 2024, measures were outlined to promote the socio-economic development of the region, as well as to enhance the investment and entrepreneurial environment.

Specifically, plans for 2025 include attracting $4.2 billion in investments, achieving $1 billion in exports, creating 323,000 jobs, and lifting 55,000 families out of poverty.

“The foundation for this lies in small businesses and entrepreneurship. In Namangan, 82% of the working-age population earns a livelihood in this sector,” the report stated.

Since the start of the year, nearly $1.6 billion in investments have been channeled into the region. However, much of this has been directed to Namangan city and central districts, necessitating increased investment in areas such as Mingbuloq, Norin, Uychi, and Chortoq. It was also emphasized that expanding the range of export products and unlocking the potential of peripheral districts are critical.

The region is also seeing significant agricultural output. For instance, in Yangiqorgon, per-hectare income exceeds $20,000.

To fully capitalize on such opportunities, a “Reforms Headquarters” was established at the President’s initiative, comprising specialists, leading entrepreneurs, and foreign experts. Their collaborative efforts have resulted in the development of projects worth an additional $1 billion.

During the meeting, officials presented these new opportunities. It was noted that their implementation would create 12,000 jobs, generate an additional 200 billion UZS in budget revenue, and contribute $160 million to export sources.

For example, plans include promoting intensive fish farming in household settings in Norin district and developing duck breeding in Mingbuloq. These initiatives are significant for ensuring food security and creating numerous jobs, according to the report. The president emphasized the need to replicate these practices in other regions.

Currently, the region has 55,000 unemployed individuals and 44,000 families living in poverty. Tasks were assigned to provide vocational training, assist with job placement, and create income-generating opportunities within households.

Instructions were also given to strengthen the social environment and transform neighborhoods into crime-free zones.
