Since the beginning of the year, 1,394 instances of illegal use of gas and electricity by consumers have been detected in Uzbekistan, according to Navruz Norboboev, head of the press service for the Inspection Service.
As a result of the unauthorized consumption of 118.8 million cubic meters of natural gas and 197.1 million kWh of electricity, the state incurred losses totaling 622.4 billion UZS.
A total of 2,333 administrative cases were initiated for violations of energy resource usage rules, including 1,078 cases related to electricity and 1,255 related to natural gas.
Additionally, quality control inspections of oil products revealed 306 cases of substandard fuel samples from gas stations and companies. Over 3.87 million liters of low-quality fuel were prevented from being sold.
Illegal energy consumption leads to network overloading and disrupts the stability of gas and electricity supplies.
Unauthorized connections to electricity grids and gas pipelines for commercial purposes, as well as tampering with metering devices, carry legal consequences.
