The press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported that Abdikarimova, Deputy Chair of the Senate Committee on Agricultural, Water Management, and Environmental Issues, issued the formal request in response to growing public concern.

In recent weeks, power outages in the capital have become more frequent, negatively impacting daily life, social infrastructure, and business activity.

“Residents and business owners are filing numerous complaints over power cuts lasting 3–4 hours. These outages are not only affecting people’s daily lives, but also disrupting the operations of entrepreneurs,” the statement said. “Social infrastructure is struggling to function properly. Power cuts at traffic lights are hampering road regulation and creating safety hazards.”

The senator also pointed to mounting financial losses resulting from failures in cooling systems at production and commercial facilities. Household appliances in residential buildings are reportedly breaking down due to unstable electricity supply.

The inquiry emphasizes that, under Article 39 of the Law on the Electric Power Industry, consumers are entitled to high-quality and reliable electricity. Moreover, Article 61 states that power supply can only be restricted or discontinued in cases of accident prevention or emergency response.
